The Armadillo Lounge: Terracotta Revival in Nashville

The Armadillo Lounge: Terracotta Revival in Nashville

Hidden behind the lively hum of Downtown Nashville’s Urban Cowboy Bar sits a space that feels worlds away. The Armadillo Lounge, a new speakeasy tucked quietly inside, is a study in warmth, texture, and an ode to terracotta reimagined.

The room glows in earthy tones and soft light, wrapped entirely in our latest terracotta line, designed in collaboration with New Orleans tattoo artist Pauly Lingerfelt. Each tile carries Pauly’s distinct hand, screen-printed, hand-finished, and slightly imperfect in all the right ways. The effect is deeply tactile, more like a living mural than a mere surface.

Terracotta, whose name means “baked earth,” has been shaping homes and gathering spaces for millennia. Here, it has been given new life: old-world materiality meets modern artistry. The floor, laid in custom porcelain from us, strikes a balance between grit and grace, built to withstand the rhythm of cowboy boots while maintaining a refined sheen.

Behind the bar, the terracotta is surrounded by a hand-painted terracotta mural by Lingerfelt made special for the space. His signature tattoo-style motifs spill across the wall, tying together the tactile warmth of terracotta with the raw creative energy that defines both his work and Nashville itself.

The result is a space that feels both grounded and transcendent, proof that craftsmanship still matters. Gleaming with Western elegance, ancient materials like terracotta can tell fresh stories when placed in the right hands.

In the Armadillo Lounge, design isn’t just decoration, it’s atmosphere, memory, and soul, baked right into the walls.
